My friends that I have only seen for a night last year agreed that we should see each other more often this year. However, with our full load schedules, we did not have time to research on where we could meet for dinner. We ended up at Caffe Dolce.
The ambience is okay though the lighting is bad. It’s too yellow and dark, resulting from the lack of fluorescent lighting that should have been mixed with the warm lighting. At least they did not rely on all-fluorescent lighting which is worse. I’m sure that the restaurant would look better during the day. My friend was not happy with the temperature and thought that they can improve their ventilation.
We took the couch for comfort and privacy. The wallpaper would have looked better with more lights.
We ordered this pesto. It lacked flavor. The calamares were evenly cooked. If they have calamares with dip on their menu, I would rather have that than this insipid pesto.
I have been craving for pizza for days and this pizza with the same name as the salad almost satisfied it. It tasted okay but I prefer the pizza in Little Italy as it does not cost much more than this. I thought that it was not flavorful enough even though the crust tasted good.
The salad tasted very good and I recommend it. This was my favorite dish along with the almost satisfactory pizza, only because I was hungry.
I have always wanted a clear teapot like this. The tea tastes really good. Not only does the black tea taste fresh, but it also has the perfect amount of fruitiness and sweetness.
We only paid around Php 1300 for a party of 3. It is a fair amount as their servings were huge. We were not even able to finish the food because we were so full. I would not go back for dinner until they have improved their lighting. I also would not go back during the summer until they have improved their ventilation. I would go back for the tea, salad, good service, and the Philippe Starck Ghost Chairs.
